The best thing about my Patriot DVD is that it is signed by Dean Devlin, Roland Emmerich and Jason Isaacs. I had a terrible headache when I went up to the Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood, but was not about to miss out meeting these guys. I asked Devlin and Emmerich what they were working, and all that they mentioned, at the time, was producing some film with spiders as a theme (ick). Since I had brought not only my DVD, but also my Companion book to get signed, Roland mentioned that his sister was there too. She had worked on the film, and her picture is in it, so he asked if I wanted her to sign as well. Of course I did, if for no other reason than I think he did it to embarrass her.
Now, the main reason I had gone to this event was to meet Jason Isaacs. I had seen him before in a few other films, but never really taken note of him. But his turn as Colonel Tavington was brilliant, and he's not bad to look at either. It turns out that he's just a darling of a man, not at all like many of the villains he plays, thank goodness. He seems to truly enjoy meeting the fans, and is very warm and friendly. I don't think he likes the idea of being put on some pedestal, so is very willing to do promotions and talk with people. Even though my head was pounding, I found it very easy to talk with Jason and not feel like I was just another face in a crowd. All in all, I would easily go back to another promotional event like this, only I'd leave the headache at home.
